The Harrison County Fillies won big over Bourbon County 12-1, on Monday at Bourbon County High School, in the Semi-Finals of the 2A Section 5 Tournament.
Harrison County got on the board in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, Savannah White doubled, scoring one run, Owyn McCoy homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Baylee Hudgins singled, scoring one run.
Harrison County scored six runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Bella Persinger doubled, scoring one run, Trista Ritchie hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Allison Dye singled, scoring one run, Marissa Taylor singled, scoring two runs, and Shyanne Ross singled, scoring one run.
Harrison County added their final run in the third inning after Aleigha Newby doubled scoring a run to make the score 12-0.
Bella Persinger earned the win for the Fillies. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out one. Ross pitched four innings in relief for Harrison County. Ross gave up two hits and one run while, striking out 10.
Harrison County racked up 15 hits in the game. Ross led Harrison County with three hits. Taylor, Dye and Kira Persinger each had 2 hits for the Fillies. Emma Hamm, Bella Persinger, White, McCoy, Newby and Baylee Hudgins each had one hit for the Fillies. Taylor and McCoy each drove in two runs for Harrison County. Harrison County didn’t commit an error in the field. Hudgins had the most chances in the field with 10.
The win improves the Fillies to 7-2 on the year.
Harrison County 3 Western Hills 2
The Harrison County Fillies topped the Western Hills Wolverines 3-2 on Tuesday night in Frankfort in the opening round of the Section 5 2A Tournament. With the win, the Fillies will play Bourbon County at Boyle County on Monday night at 6 p.m.
Harrison County was down 2-0 in the top of the sixth inning. With one out Emma Hamm singled. Bella Persinger was hit by a pitch. Savannah White then stepped to the plate and homered to straight away center field, scoring three runs and giving the Fillies the 3-2 victory.
Bella Persinger got the start in the circle for Harrison County. Persinger went four innings allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six.
Shyanne Ross came on in relief and picked up the win for Harrison County. Ross went three innings allowing two hits and no runs while striking out three.
White provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Fillies with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. White, Hamm, and Owyn McCoy each collected two hits for Harrison County. Allison Dye also had one hit for the Fillies.
In addition to providing the big hit offensively, White also threw out two base runners trying to steal.
The win improves the Fillies to 4-2 on the season.
The Fillies JV fell to Western Hills 14-6. Lauren Highlander homered for the Fillies JV. The loss drops the Fillies JV to 1-2 on the year.
Harrison County 3 Great Crossing 2
The Harrison County Fillies defeated Great Crossing Warhawk 3-2 on Wednesday night in Georgetown.
The Fillies opened the scoring in the first inning. With one out Emma Hamm and Bella Persinger singled. Owyn McCoy then singled with two outs scoring Hamm and giving the Fillies the 1-0 lead.
Harrison County added two runs in the third. Baylee Hudgins was safe on an error to lead off the third inning. With one out Hamm singled. Persinger grounded out moving the runners to second and third. Savannah White singled hard to left field, making the score 3-0.
Shyanne Ross earned the win for Harrison County. The right-handed pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over six and one-third innings, striking out seven. Bella Persinger came on in relief with a runner on and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning recording a strike out and a fly out to end the game and earn the save.
Persinger and Hamm each collected two hits for Harrison County. McCoy and White both had one hit for the Fillies. White led the Fillies with two runs batted in.
Harrison County turned one double play in the game. The Fillies were sure-handed as they didn’t commit any errors. White made the most plays with nine.
With the win Harrison County improves to 5-2 on the year.
Harrison County 12 Simon Kenton 0 (5 innings)
The Harrison County Fillies defeated the Simon Kenton Lady Pioneers 12-0 on Thursday night on the Hilltop. Shyanne Ross hit a solo home run to center field to lead off the game for the Fillies to give them a quick 1-0 lead. The Fillies got RBI singles from Savannah White and Allison Dye to lead 3-0 after one inning.
A walk by Owyn McCoy extended the Harrison County Fillies lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The Fillies scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the third inning. Ross singled, scoring one run, Emma Hamm doubled, scoring one run, and White homered to center field, scoring three runs.
Bella Persinger earned the win in the circle for Harrison County. The right-handed pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking none.
Harrison County amassed 13 hits in the game as four players had multiple hits. Hamm led Harrison County with four hits in four at bats. White led Harrison County with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Ross and Dye each collected multiple hits for Harrison County with Ross going 3 for 4 and Dye going 2 for 3. Persinger and Baylee Hudgins also added hits for Harrison County. The Fillies were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Ross had the most chances in the field with five.
With the win, Harrison County improves to 6-2 on the year.
The Harrison County JV defeated the Simon Kenton JV 4-2 to even their record at 2-2 on the year.
